Our History:
Noah-Christian Academy is an extension of the Noah-Christian Community Center, Inc., which has been operating as a ministry since March 2005. The center offers free educational services to the youth and families of the Roanoke Valley and abroad. NCCC is not limited to, but targets socioeconomically challenged youth and provides such services:  after-school tutorials, camps, Mentor Program, Career Expos (including College tours), Youth and Parent Workshops, and much more. The academy has always been a part of the center's vision in efforts to provide a Christian Education for little or no expense for qualifying families. After six years of building a foundation and establishing a rapport in the community, NCA began its first year in August 2011. The organization has been able to enrich the lives of many youths and their families through educational resources as well as successful social, personal, and spiritual skills through the implementation of Christian Principles. Noah-Christian Academy is an additional driving force to evangelize and educate on the Word of God as well as birth vision and purpose in the lives of all who attend.

Noah-Christian Community Center, Inc. is named after the founders' two deceased baby boys, Noah and Christian Elliott.

My grandson, Demarcus, is entering high school this upcoming school season. He maintained AP classes with only a couple of B’s. I think back to how when he started public school, we had to move him up a grade because he was reading on a six-grade level. I have to give all the credit to Noah Christian Academy for the foundation they gave him. The small classroom setting and the time each teacher spent with him. He did not just learn academically, but he learned about the Lord and to this day he studies his Bible alone. He learned to pray and to speak in public before kindergarten. I believe Noah Christian gave him life skills no one can take from him.

Our son Joel had an opportunity to attend Noah-Christian Academy during his elementary years.  God provided a school that could meet our son’s one-on-one needs in a smaller class setting. Noah-Christian modeled a godly character that continues to enrich his academic excellence and personality presently.  Joel had the opportunity to participate in innovative interests at Noah Christian that he would not have had the opportunity to at a public school in his elementary years.  Noah Christian was beneficial in developing Joel’s spiritual gifts and allowing him to execute his gifts during his years at NCA. Joel is an upcoming sophomore and current honor roll student at William Fleming High School.  Joel was the Freshman Class Representative.  Joel volunteers four days a week at Excel Martial Arts with younger children and is working towards his black belt.  God answered our prayer as parents.  The seeds and diligence from the staff at Noah-Christian Academy continue to bloom into his teen years and we are forever grateful to the staff.
Love was taught and shown to Joel, not only how to love his friends, but his neighbors according to Matthew 5: 43-48.

We love Noah-Christian Academy (NCA)!  My husband and I were looking for a Christian school that had a good school atmosphere and challenged students to strive for excellence.  We found everything that we wanted at NCA!  Both of our children attended there until we moved out of town.  When we moved our son’s new teacher was impressed by where he was academically, and my daughter skipped a grade.  Even during the pandemic, the kids loved to go to school and see their teachers and classmates.  Mrs. Elliott, the teachers, and the staff all are anointed to educate each child for academic excellence and living a God-fearing life on this earth and for the life to come.

There are so many wonderful things to say about NCA because it is so much more than an ordinary school. My son Mekhi Terry attended Noah-Christian Academy from Pre-K to 1st grade until moving to Maryland.  I saw staff members that never stopped striving for excellence in every way and witnessed a school filled with teachers that give 100% of themselves and then some. They give countless additional hours after school to lend a hand to students or parents in need, or simply to make an extracurricular activity extra special. They do it so willingly! Mrs. Elliott, the principal, is never too busy to sit down and discuss anything that is on your mind, whether a concern you have with your child, a suggestion or idea you may have, or just a simple question you need an answer to. She genuinely listens and cares. Her presence is felt throughout the school. The foundation Noah-Christian Academy laid has allowed Mekhi to excel in his new school by providing him the necessary academic tools such as math and reading skills, along with biblical principles.

My son, Dwayne, attended Noah-Christian Academy in preschool and kindergarten. He was a very shy child and the staff helped bring him out of his shell and helped build his self-confidence. Dwayne began singing solos with the school choir and presenting school projects in front of a crowd. He learned the Lord's prayer and a new Bible verse every week. When he went to church with his grandmother, he would recite the Lord's prayer and the members were amazed that he knew it in its entirety at the age of four. NCA was instrumental in his early childhood development and academics. I believe the small class size was key because he received one on one instruction. Dwayne started first grade, reading, and spelling on a fourth-grade level. Because of the basics he learned in kindergarten, he also excelled in math and other subjects. He is currently entering the ninth grade and is on track for an advanced high school diploma. Thank you, Mrs. Elliott, and the entire NCA staff for all that you do. You go above and beyond, and it is greatly appreciated.

When Lauren started kindergarten, they went through PALS testing. She failed the initial test and her teacher said not to worry, that she would catch up. During first grade, Lauren struggled to read or learn how to spell. At this point, I had started doing research and believed Lauren to have dyslexia. Her first-grade teacher requested a child study and pushed to have Lauren tested. The school psychologist told us that she couldn’t be diagnosed with dyslexia because she couldn’t read well enough to do the test. I felt as if the school system would fail my child because they were not providing individualized instruction or even trying to meet her instructional needs. This is where the blessing of Noah-Christian Academy came into our lives.

Dr. Charnika Elliott and I had been friends for several years at this point. We had met after being hired at the same school in Roanoke City. She was beginning her school, Noah-Christian Academy, and asked if Lauren would like to attend. When the school year started, Lauren was well below grade level for reading. Charnika knew that I believed Lauren had dyslexia. The NCA teachers began individualizing instruction for Lauren and working with her to strengthen her reading/deciphering abilities. Lauren made significant gains in her 2nd-grade year and was on grade level by the end of the school year. Then at the end of her 3rd-grade year, Lauren was reading on a 5th-grade level, well above what we expected. All of her standardized tests showed she was above grade level in all of her subjects. Without the help of the teachers at Noah-Christian Academy, I truly believe Lauren would have continued to struggle.

Unfortunately, we sold our house and moved to a new district, however, Lauren became a straight A student. She worked hard and graduated high school with over a 4.0 GPA. She is now starting her sophomore year of college and is in the Honors program.  She was on the Dean's List her first semester. We often look back and Lauren will be the first to tell you that without the love and caring of the teachers at Noah-Christian Academy, she would have never been as successful as she is.
